Stryke's Scoop November 2020

In a month filled with adversity, it was the little things that shined bright.

October Highlights

Books Read

David & Goliath by Malcom Gladwell

Malcom Gladwell is one of my favorite all time authors, so I had to read this

book. It offers numerous stories about how apparent disadvantages can

frequently play to one's advantage.

The Buddha and the Badass by Vishen Lakhiani

Finished this book. Such a great read. Just as a refresher: this book encourages

readers to reframe their life in order to truly achieve their life goals instead of

getting stuck in a life of regularity. READ THIS BOOK.

Struggles

To be quite honest, this month has been filled with adversity in a number of ways. Some more personal than others, but I will continue to move forward and improve upon myself.

Stomach infection

- difficulties focusing on normal activities

Did not get accepted to BAN

- got to third round interview, in which I was mocked and snubbed

Still difficult to meet new people

- COVID + masks

Personal/Family adversity

Asks

Although this 2020 year has been one of the most difficult in recent history, I'm asking you to dig deep today and send me an email that tells me about the three things you are most thankful for in 2020.

Tell me about why these three things have made an impact in your life..

(Yes I am politely asking you to send me an email :))

Shoutouts

Lizzy – Thank you so much for offering me a position at Sidewalk. I know it is going to be a busy couple of months in this holiday season, but that's the most exciting part! I know the company has ridiculous potential and I hope that I will be able to contribute to its prolonged success!

Violet – So so glad we had the opportunity to connect! I had a great time spending the weekend with you and your family, looking forward to doing it again soon!

Buddy – Can't thank you enough for the wonderful opportunity you have bestowed upon Kyle and me. I can't wait to see what all we can accomplish when putting our three powerful minds to work!

Closing Thoughts

Though this month has been one of difficulty, I know there is much to come from the days ahead. From the loss of a loved one to being insulted in an interview (in the third round of interviews no less), there were various obstacles to overcome in the month of October. Having said that, I believe these struggles have allowed me to regain appreciation for the cyclical "regular days" that I have between school, work, and personal time. This November, I am looking forward to spending a little more time on myself to ensure I have a stable footing to develop in further aspects of my life.

What’s Next

  • Decide to graduate Spring of 2021 or Spring of 2022

  • Narrow down job opportunities for next summer to 2 positions

  • Spend 1 hour a day doing something creative (for month of Nov.)

Until next month!
