This summarizes my month:

February Highlights

Snow Week

  • Got a full week off because of snow and power outages (we were spared and kept our power!). This really changed the flow of the rest of the month for me.

Me time

  • Aside from the week off of school, I managed to sneak in a few trips that were key to keeping myself level-headed... managed to have a little fun too.

New Stuff

How to Win Friends and Influence People Calendar

  • This little thing is great (not an ad lol). Based on the famous Dale Carnegie book, the calendar provides a daily quote from the book - a great way to start each day. Today: "It is always easier to listen to unpleasant things after we have heard some praise of our good points."

Books

Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey

  • To be completely honest I have not finished it yet... I'm continuing to balance this with my academic readings, but it follows the truly fascinating upbringing and life of the legendary actor who has truly been around the world. His story is unlike any other storied actor I've ever heard. From growing up around rural Texas to becoming a star actor in his 20s to winning 2 Golden Globes and an Academy Award. He tells his stories aligning each with journal entries he has kept since age 16.

  • Favorite story: In his early days of high school, McConaughey had acne as most teens do. His mom, working as a salesman for a mink oil company suggested it would help "remove the impurities" from his face... obviously this only made things worse. After seeing the doctor, his dad came up with the idea to sue the mink oil company. Eventually, after all the preliminary court proceedings and paperwork were finished (2 years later), Matthew finally got his day to testify in court. Unfortunately for Matthew, the defense attorney asked Matthew if he had truly faced difficulties as a result of the mink oil use. Unfortunately for McConaughey, the case ended poorly when the attorney brought out a picture of Matthew walking into his Junior prom with the "Most Handsome"

Struggles

Keeping up with school

  • I thought this final semester would be a tad more relenting... I'm staying busy

Closing Thoughts

February flew by, especially with the trips and the snow-break scattered into the mix. I'm looking forward to taking it a notch down in March just to focus on school and the future!
